LBB MUSIC
Laura Bell has always been a singer-songwriter, even as a little girl growing up in Lexington, Kentucky. In August 2007, she released her independent Y'alternative country album, Longing for A Place Already Gone, on her own record label, LAB Records. The highly acclaimed CD was reminiscent of songs of the late 60s and 70s by her idols Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard and Loretta Lynn.
In February 2009, Laura Bell signed with Universal Music Group Nashville and is currently working on her debut major record release schedule for 2010. The project entitled Achin' and Shakin' is being produced by famed producers Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift), Mike Shimshack and Kyle Kelso (Brittney Spears, Tina Parol).
LBB ON BROADWAY
Cast in the larger-than-life role of Elle Woods in Broadway's hit Legally Blonde The Musical, Laura Bell garnered a 2007 Tony Nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, a 2007 Drama Desk Nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Musical and a 2007 Drama League Distinguished Performance Award Nomination.
Because of the show's exceptional appeal with young audiences, MTV took an unprecedented step and featured Laura in a highly-publicized, special airing of Legally Blonde The Musical in October 2007. It reached over 12.5 million viewers during its premiere weekend.
The original cast recording of the show captured the #1 slot on the Billboard Cast Album chart and has continued to chart as one of the top-selling Broadway cast albums.
In the spring of 2008, Laura Bell received the ultimate honor in show business of having a caricature of herself at Sardi's Restaurant in New York City.
LBB STAGE
Laura Bell began dance classes at three years old and was singing and doing impersonations by age five. She was then cast in Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular. By age nine she had received her first Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for the lead role in the off-Broadway musical production of Ruthless. As a teenager she joined the national tour cast of The Sound of Music with Marie Osmond and then took a starring role as Dainty June opposite Betty Buckley in Gypsy.
With and unstoppable drive and uncanny taste for hits, Laura Bell then performed in two of Broadway's mega-blockbusters: the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray as Amber Von Tussle, and was the standby for Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked. After bringing him to tears with her performance the Tony award-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell was sold on giving Laura Bell the starring role of Elle Woods in his upcoming production of Legally Blonde The Musical. Opening in San Francisco in January 2007, the show went on to be a hit at the Palace Theater in New York City.
